The forum brought together government officials, leading experts, representatives of about 120 international organizations and the scientific community from more than 70 countries, the Doone News agency reports.

The agenda discussed the global importance of irrigation, regional cooperation in the field of food security, the introduction of water-saving technologies and the efficient use of transboundary water resources.

Within the framework of the forum, the delegation of the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan presented the country's achievements in the field of water resources management. The participants paid special attention to projects on the introduction of water-saving technologies on 2 million hectares of irrigated land and annual savings of up to 2 billion cubic meters of water.

The key event was the recognition of the Uzbek channels "Dustlik" and "Eski Tuyatortar" as World Irrigation Heritage sites. They were awarded the certificates of the WHIS Award-2025.

The Secretary General of the Commission, Rishi Kumar Gupta, noted that these canals represent a valuable irrigation heritage not only of the regional but also of the world level, emphasizing the importance of Uzbekistan's efforts to preserve and modernize these facilities.
