Electric vehicles produced in Uzbekistan will be significantly cheaper than imported counterparts. This was stated by Shafkatbek Alimov, General Director of the BYD Uzbekistan Factory, in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

The cost reduction, according to him, will be possible due to the localization of production and reduction of logistics costs.

Sh. Alimov noted that the battery has the greatest impact on the cost of electric vehicles.

"Last year, the price of a battery was $132 per 1 kWh, this year it has dropped to $100. According to forecasts, by 2025 the cost will reach $ 50," he said.

This is possible due to the development of technologies and an increase in production volume. As a result, this will certainly affect the final cost of the car.

At the end of June, the BYD Uzbekistan plant in Jizzakh produced the first mass-produced electric car - BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION.

The plant starts mass production of BYD passenger cars using new energy sources for consumers in Uzbekistan, starting with two of the most popular models: BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION (C-segment SUV) and BYD CHAZOR CHAMPION (sedan). Both vehicles are equipped with the innovative BYD Super DM-i technology.

At the first stage, the production capacity of the plant will be up to 50,000 cars per year. The plant's products will also be exported to Central Asian countries.

The company plans to further expand production. At the second stage of the project, it is planned to invest $300 million to increase the capacity to 200,000 electric vehicles per year. At the third stage, it is planned to master investments in the amount of $500 million and increase production to 500,000 electric vehicles per year.

BYD is also planning to release such popular models as the E2, Seagull and Yuan.
