Hungarian OTP Bank participates in the privatization of one of the banks in Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said this during the ceremony of signing bilateral documents after the Uzbek-Hungarian talks.

“I am satisfied with our negotiations. OTP Bank participates in the privatization of the bank in Uzbekistan. And when we trust such an economic component as a bank, it says a lot, ”Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

According to him, plans and prospects were discussed today in a narrow circle with the heads of the banks. Real results are expected soon.

The entry of the Hungarian OTP Bank into the Uzbek market has been discussed since at least the summer of 2020. In February 2021, it became known that the parties are considering various options, among which preference is given to the privatization of one of the state-owned banks.
