Imam al-Bukhari Mosque opens in Indonesia

    On 9 April 2021, Imam al-Bukhari Mosque was opened in Indonesia’s Chianjur city.

    It was built in the Uzbek architectural style according to the drawings of professors and students of the Faculty of Architecture of Gunadarma University, who visited Uzbekistan in March 2020 within the framework of the study of Islamic architecture.

    The training project was implemented jointly with the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction, Tashkent State University of Economics, Bukhara State University, as well as ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan.

    Indonesian professors and students studied the historical architecture of Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent. A recommendation report was compiled on the implementation of construction methods of historical buildings of Uzbekistan in Indonesia.

    After a year, the mosque in the Uzbek architectural style was built. The project is fully funded by Gunadarma University.

    The opening ceremony was attended by the employees of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Indonesia, the Governor of Chianjur, public figures and major media of Indonesia.
