Iran and Russia have signed a $25 billion agreement on the construction of the Hormoz nuclear power plant in the province of Hormozgan in the south of the Islamic Republic. The footage of the document signing was published by the IRNA news agency.
On the part of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), the agreement was signed by Nasser Mansour Shariflu, a representative of Iran Hormoz, and Dmitry Shiganov, a representative of Rosatom Energy Projects, on the Russian side.
It is noted that the NPP will consist of four power units. An area of 500 hectares has been allocated for the project. At the moment, engineering surveys are underway, and some work is underway to prepare the site for construction.
In February 2024, Ebrahim Raisi, then President of Iran, in the presence of the head of the AEOI, Mohammad Eslami, gave instructions to begin construction of the Hormoz nuclear power plant in the province of Hormozgan.
