This humanitarian project was implemented as part of the initiative of the head of our state to cure hepatitis C 100% in our country, the Dunyo news agency reports.
As a result of negotiations between the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan and the leadership of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, an agreement was reached on the gratuitous transfer to our country of the drug Sofosbuvir-400mg against hepatitis C in the amount of 7,440 tablets in 31 packages with a total value of 114829 US dollars. These medicines were delivered to Uzbekistan on May 31 by Uzbekistan Airways flight on the route Sharm el Sheikh - Tashkent.
As part of the implementation of the national program for the elimination of hepatitis C in Uzbekistan by 2030, medicines will be distributed to patients undergoing treatment at the Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, during 2023-2024, the Egyptian government provided our country with 27 shipments of Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir drugs with a total weight of 12.4 tons to combat hepatitis C.
The total cost of these drugs is US$ 1.4 million.
