Kazakhstan is ready to triple the pumping of Russian gas to Uzbekistan in 2024

    The transportation of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan will be almost tripled in 2024, to 3.8 billion cubic meters, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan told Interfax.

    "As part of the signed agreement on strategic cooperation between Gazprom PJSC and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an increase in the annual volume of Russian gas transportation to Uzbekistan from 1.28 billion cubic meters in 2023 to 3.8 billion cubic meters in 2024 has been determined," the report said.

    According to the ministry, in 2023, the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan amounted to 1.281 billion cubic meters. In January-February 2024, 1.114 billion cubic meters were transported.

    In June 2023, Gazprom and JSC NC QazaqGaz signed an agreement for the provision of services for the transportation of Russian natural gas through Kazakhstan for consumers of Uzbekistan. In October 2023, a ceremony was held to begin the supply of Russian natural gas along this route. Deliveries are organized in reverse mode along a specially designated route based on the Central Asia - Center main gas pipeline system.

    Later it became known that the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan is planned to increase almost 4 times from 2026, to 11 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
