By his order, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced a temporary ban on the import of fresh chicken eggs into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by road from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. The ban will be in effect for six months.

It is noted that the ban does not apply to the transit of fresh chicken eggs through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as their movement from the territory of one-member state of the Eurasian Economic Union to the territory of another member state of the Eurasian Economic Union through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A temporary ban on the import of eggs was introduced in order to support domestic producers in the spring and summer period, when there is a decrease in demand for the product, and market needs are fully covered by industrial production and the active presence of household products on the market.

"This factor has a negative impact on the activities of poultry farms, egg prices are falling. Reducing the price below cost has a negative impact on the profitability of enterprises. Also, during this period, the shelf life of eggs is shortened, while due to technological features, the volume of egg production does not decrease, which leads to overstocking in warehouses," the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

In this regard, in order to support domestic producers and protect the domestic market, the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy of Participation in International Economic Organizations approved the expediency of establishing temporary restrictive measures on the import of chicken eggs into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by road for the spring and summer period.
