Its use makes it possible to reduce the temperature inside buildings by 5 degrees Celsius during the daytime heat, the scientists write in an article in the journal Science Advances.

"When this cement solidifies, a special structure is formed on its surface from analogues of crystals of the natural mineral ettringite, which at the same time reflects visible light well, and at the same time almost completely passes through infrared radiation in the middle part of its spectrum. This allowed us to reduce the temperature inside the building by 5 degrees Celsius in conditions similar to daytime heat," the researchers write.

This material, which scientists called "photon-structured cement," was created by a group of Chinese and American materials scientists led by a professor at Southeastern University (PRC). Miao Changwen, transmits tass.ru.
