Memorandum signed between National Center and United Nations Development Program

    On December 10 of this year, a Memorandum on mutual cooperation was signed between the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The signing ceremony took place within the framework of a solemn event organized at the Human Rights House to mark the International Human Rights Day.

    The Memorandum was signed by Akiko Fujii UNDP Resident Representative in our country and Director of the National Center Akmal Saidov.

    The parties noted that the general goal of their cooperation is to assist in implementing key reforms aimed at increasing transparency and accountability, and introducing the practice of conducting business with respect for human rights.

    This Memorandum is aimed at developing specific mechanisms for the protection of human rights and freedoms in priority areas, ranging from combating poverty and inequality to ensuring quality education, promoting gender equality, strengthening sustainable institutions, and ensuring equal and fair access to justice.

The UNDP works in partnership with numerous countries to support sustainable development, eradicate poverty, promote and empower women’s rights, and strengthen sound governance and the rule of law.
