Today, on December 28, at 08:11 local time, an earthquake occurred on the territory of Uzbekistan. The epicenter was located in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region.
According to the Republican Center for Seismic Forecasting Monitoring of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the magnitude was 3.2 points. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent is 211 km in a south-easterly direction.
The strength of tremors in Uzbekistan:
Yangikurgan district: 2 points, 9 km;
Chartak district: 2 points, 11 km;
Kasansai district: 2 points, 16 km.
On June 30 of this year, at about 14:00, employees of the internal affairs bodies conducted a special operational event in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region. During the event, three residents of the area were detained, who fished bags of contraband cigarettes out of the river with a strong current.
The head of the Department of Protected Natural Areas at the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Zokir Rakhimov, met with a representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), head of the business support project Milo Stevanovich.
The International Flower Festival will be held in Namangan from May 19 to June 23. It is expected that about 3 million guests will attend the 63rd festival. The event was organized by the Tourism Committee in cooperation with the tourism department of the Khokimiyat of Namangan region.
