Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to be ready for a "full-scale war" that the Jewish state will launch in the event of a breakdown of the truce in Lebanon. He made the corresponding statement in an interview with Channel 14 of Israeli television.
"I ordered the IDF to prepare for a full-scale war in Lebanon in the event of a breakdown of the truce. If the [ceasefire] agreement is violated, we will move on to a full-scale war," the head of government said.
On the morning of November 27, an agreement on the first truce between Israel and Lebanon since the beginning of hostilities in October 2023 entered into force. US President Joe Biden announced that the agreements between the Jewish state and the Shiite organization Hezbollah provide for the restoration of control over the territory of the republic by the Lebanese army and state security forces within 60 days.
