This requirement is being introduced by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to the new regulation, prior to boarding their flight to the US, every passenger must fill out and sign a paper or electronic declaration confirming that they have not been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) during the past 21 days.

In this context, transiting through a DRC airport is also considered as having been in the country. Passengers are required to complete the declaration even if they did not leave the aircraft or the airport.

For passengers under the age of 18, the declaration must be completed and signed by a parent, guardian, or other authorized person.

Passengers who fail to present the declaration will not be allowed to board the flight. Furthermore, knowingly providing false information can lead to criminal liability in accordance with US law.

Passengers are advised to familiarize themselves with the requirements in advance and prepare the declaration before arriving at the airport.
