OSCE: the human rights protection system in Uzbekistan is at a high level

    On October 5, the Chairman of the Senate, Chairman of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor Tanzila Narbayeva met with a delegation headed by the OSCE Special Representative for Combating Human Trafficking V. Richie, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

    During the meeting, practical aspects of expanding the open and trusting dialogue and cooperation in mutually beneficial areas established between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in recent years were discussed.

    T.Narbayeva noted that in recent years, systemic reforms have been implemented in our country to combat human trafficking, concrete results have been achieved in the activities of the National Commission in the fight against this evil, a lot of work has been done with international partner organizations and civil society institutions to eliminate existing problems in this area.

    The OSCE delegation was informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to improve the human rights system, counter child labor and forced labor, introduce the principles of decent work into practice, and combat human trafficking.

    V. Ritchie, noting that the human rights protection system in Uzbekistan is at a high level, stressed that the reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are highly appreciated by the international community.

    V. Ritchie highly appreciated the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to combat human trafficking and forced labor and fully supported the initiative of Uzbekistan on the need to strengthen practical cooperation between the parliament, the government and civil society institutions.

    In turn, he noted that he would present Uzbekistan's practical proposal to representatives of relevant state and non-state organizations, the parliament and the government of states within the OSCE responsible for combating human trafficking, and the OSCE would provide all necessary support to establish this cooperation.

    At the end of the meeting, the sides exchanged views and agreed on a number of issues related to the further development of cooperation on combating human trafficking, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
