Cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Belarus was discussed

    Today, on August 27, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova.

    During the meeting, it was emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus have strengthened in recent years due to the relationship between the presidents of the two countries.

    During the discussion, attention was focused on the fact that Uzbekistan and Belarus continue an active political dialogue and constructive cooperation on international platforms.

    Thus, it was emphasized that representatives of the parliaments of the two countries actively cooperate within the framework of such international parliamentary organizations as the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Interparliamentary Union.

    In addition, an emphasis was placed on the activities of friendship groups of the two countries. It was said that the activities in this direction were reviewed and the name of the commission was renamed the Interparliamentary Commission of the Senate for Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

    It was emphasized that from now on this Commission will closely monitor the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, provide practical support for their timely and high-quality implementation, and the participation of local deputies in its work will be intensified.

    The meeting also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of lawmaking, gender and youth policy, exchange of experience in the fields of education and medicine, expansion of regional ties, and digital development of regions.

    The parties also touched upon the essence and significance of the Uzbek-Belarusian Women's Business Forum.

    It was noted that the second holding of this business forum serves to develop new proposals for the development of women's entrepreneurship, strengthening trade and economic ties between the countries.

    After that, the heads of the chambers of parliaments of the two countries, with the participation of representatives of the delegation, signed a Plan of joint activities ("roadmap") on the development of cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for 2024-2025.

    By tradition, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova left an entry in the Book of Honorary Guests of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
