Tree in Pakistan remains ‘under arrest’ for 125 years

The tree in Peshawar, Pakistan has been under arrest since 1899: British officer D. Squid decided to punish it in this way for trying to escape.

The drunken officer was moving towards the tree when the plant appeared to run away from him. The officer immediately ordered his soldiers to chain the tree and arrest him.

Today, the tree has become a remarkable monument. A "board" was placed in front of the tree and it said: "I am under arrest. One evening a drunken British officer thought I was running away and ordered me arrested. I have been in custody since then."

The chained plant still attracts the attention of travelers. The local government is in no hurry to release him from captivity.
