The President of Uzbekistan discusses projects for developing a full-scale partnership with the delegation of Saudi Arabia

    On November 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from Saudi Arabia led by the Kingdom’s Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih.

    Current issues of further enhancing multifaceted cooperation and full-scale partnership between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia were discussed, including the unconditional practical implementation of agreements at the highest level.

    The Minister of Investment conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Leader of Uzbekistan from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

    The President of Uzbekistan noted with great satisfaction the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in recent years.

    The trade turnover and volumes of Saudi direct investment in the economy of Uzbekistan, primarily in green energy, are growing, and the frequency of direct flights is increasing.

    With the support of the Saudi Fund for Development, several socially significant projects are being implemented in healthcare, education, water supply, and other areas.

    A joint fund for expanding Uzbekistan’s economic opportunities is being created.

    As part of the Saudi delegation’s current visit, agreements were signed on implementing mutually beneficial projects in chemistry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT, and infrastructure development worth $12 billion.

    The importance of accelerating the implementation of large energy projects in various regions of Uzbekistan was emphasized.

    An agreement was also reached to promote new projects and programs worth $11 billion in transport infrastructure and utilities, geology, irrigation, household waste processing, higher education, and labor migration.

    The fruitful partnership with ACWA Power, the largest investor and strategic partner in the development of green energy in Uzbekistan, was emphasized. The company is currently implementing projects worth $7.5 billion.

    The President of Uzbekistan welcomed the launch of a modern thermal power plant with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in Syrdarya region and the construction of a pilot production of green hydrogen in Tashkent region.

    A ceremony was held to award Minister Khalid Al-Falih the “Dustlik” (Friendship) Order for his outstanding contribution and comprehensive support for developing multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.
