The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan pays great attention to the use of renewable energy sources, especially solar energy. In a country with a total of 270-300 sunny days, the potential for using solar energy is huge. There, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 57 dated February 16, 2023, measures were planned for the widespread introduction of renewable energy technologies (in particular PV panels and solar collectors) among the population and legal entities throughout the republic. This implies a greater demand for individual qualified specialists. The UNDP representative office in Uzbekistan is actively involved in the implementation of this decree. Together with the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction (MOH), a decision was made to train employees of the Ishga Marhamat monocentres.
In remote rural regions where traditional electricity is not available everywhere, the use of solar panels helps to solve infrastructure problems. However, today there is a problem of a shortage of competent specialists in solar panels. In order to "keep up with the times", UNDP has started trainings for teachers (in the specialties of electrician and plumber) of the Ishga Marhamat mono-centers. These trainings last five full days and consist of 50% theoretical and 50% practical parts. The trainings are conducted jointly with one of the leading companies in this field, and involve the training participants mastering the basic skills of installation, installation and maintenance of solar panels and solar collectors. In the future, it is planned to equip the mono-centers with models of solar panels and solar collectors from the UNDP side.
The first training (for electricians) is held on October 23-27, 2023. The next training for plumbers will be held on October 30 - November 3, 2023.
To consolidate their knowledge, the training participants in small groups undergo practice at solar panel facilities. Together with the training, it is planned to transfer all methodological materials (presentations, curriculum and handouts) to monocenters, so that in the future the trained employees of the monocenters can continue to teach on an independent basis.
UNDP is ready to support the efforts of partners aimed at the widespread introduction of sustainable energy and the creation of green jobs.
