Russia to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan in tourism

    The Russian government will increase the tourist flow with Uzbekistan, the corresponding action plan was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, his press service reports.

    "On the part of the Republic, the document was signed by the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov," the release says.

    The joint project includes 20 events. Within its framework, it is planned to hold the Year of Tourism of Russia and Uzbekistan, develop and launch a cross-border route for travelers "The Great Silk Road", create special offers for festival, gastronomic, wine, extreme, winter and other types of tourism, RIA Novosti reports.

    In addition, it is planned to organize study tours for students of Russia and Uzbekistan.

    "Tourism in Uzbekistan is, first of all, cities with unique architecture and history, hospitable residents, excellent cuisine. Russia also has something to offer. These are the regions of the Far East: Kamchatka, Sakhalin, as well as Altai, the historical cities of the central part of the country and many other things that we are proud of," D. Chernyshenko said.

    According to the results of 2020, 38 thousand Russian tourists visited Uzbekistan, 182 thousand residents of the republic came to Russia.
