During the conversation, views were exchanged on development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, including bilateral interparliamentary relations.
F. Martusciello was informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan to counteract the spread of coronavirus. Appreciation was expressed to the European Union for its readiness to provide Uzbekistan with financial assistance for 36 million euros to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the country’s socio-economic development.
The Chair of the Delegation of the European Parliament praised the measures taken by the country’s leadership to counter COVID-19. According to him, the effectiveness of anti-crisis measures taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan is due to the implementation of the reform program in recent years.
The fact that Uzbekistan has provided humanitarian assistance in the fight against coronavirus to foreign countries, including a member of the European Union – Hungary, was emphasized.
Issues of holding the next meeting of Uzbekistan – EU Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee in Brussels were also discussed during the negotiations.
