Senators approved the Law on ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention on Part-time Work

    Today, on August 16, 2024, the fifty-fifth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis continued its work in Tashkent.

    It is attended by members of the Senate, the Government, representatives of ministries and departments, members of the Youth Parliament at the Senate and media workers.

    At the fifty-fifth plenary session of the Senate, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention No. 175 on Part-time Work (Geneva, June 24, 1994)" was considered.

    This Convention has been ratified by 20 countries of the world. The purpose of the Convention is to ensure the working conditions of part-time workers, as well as to protect them from discrimination in the field of wages and social security.

    The provisions of the Convention apply to all part-time workers.

    The discussion highlighted the need for part-time workers to have equal rights and enjoy the same social protection as full-time workers.

    The senators stressed that the norms of the Convention fully comply with the legislation of Uzbekistan, as well as the goals and objectives of the Strategy "Uzbekistan-2030".

    During the discussion, it was noted that the ratification of the Convention would create additional guarantees for the protection of the rights of part-time workers and would give a significant impetus to further improvement of the national labor protection system.

    The senators stressed that the ratification of the Convention serves to improve national legislation and ensure the effective implementation of international labor standards, as well as demonstrates Uzbekistan's commitment to the basic international principles and standards to ensure guarantees of workers' rights.

    Following the discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
