A new environmental project in the leather industry is being launched in Uzbekistan. As part of the Year of Environmental Protection and the "Green" Economy, the Uzcharmsanoat Association and the leading Swiss company SWISS GROW have agreed to launch an innovative production facility for processing tannery waste into mineral fertilizers for agriculture.

Over the years, such waste has been disposed of or destroyed in Uzbekistan, but modern technologies make it possible to turn it into a valuable resource in demand by the agricultural sector. The project will provide a double benefit: it will reduce the burden on the environment and create a source of environmentally friendly fertilizers of domestic production.

According to preliminary data, up to 60% of tannery waste is planned to be processed at the first stage. The total cost of the project is estimated at $ 2 million. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the procedure for its implementation, legislative aspects and the selection of necessary land plots.

According to experts, this project will become a new stage in the synergy of the country's industrial and agricultural sectors, as well as strengthen Uzbekistan's international image as a partner open to environmental and technological innovations.
