The United States will provide a grant in the amount of 500 thousand dollars for architectural restoration work on Registan Square in Samarkand. This is reported by the press service of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan.

The project proposed by the Agency of Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan was selected as part of an international competition. As part of the restoration, the facade of the Sher-Dor Madrasah will be preserved and restored with the participation of the International Institute of Central Asian Studies.

To improve the quality and efficiency of work, foreign specialists will be included in the project as consultants. In addition, the project partners will assist in establishing contacts between the Agency and the world's leading scientists and provide access to the necessary documentation and resources for efforts to preserve cultural heritage.

U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick noted that these efforts will contribute to the preservation of the Sher-Dor Madrasah as an important monument, strengthen ties between the countries and make a significant contribution to the protection of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage.

With the support of the US Ambassador's Fund for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan, 14 projects have already been implemented, for which about 1.35 million dollars have been allocated. The new project also contributes to the implementation of the Agreement on the Protection of Cultural Heritage concluded between the United States and Uzbekistan last year.
