The sides discussed multilateral cooperation between the two countries, in particular, the promotion of promising projects in trade, economic, investment, innovation, transport and logistics, agro-industrial, scientific and technical spheres, the expansion of educational and cultural and humanitarian exchange, as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Chairman of the Senate T. Narbayeva noted the achievements of the two countries in the field of interparliamentary cooperation in recent years, including the results of the autumn session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, held in October this year in Samarkand. She stressed that this session marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between the CIS parliaments.
In turn, the Chairman of the State Duma V. Volodin noted the special importance within the capabilities of parliaments to legislatively ensure decisions taken at the level of heads of state. Russia is currently the main partner of Uzbekistan in the field of foreign economic relations, trade turnover between the countries is growing, the need to strengthen ties in transport, industrial, tourism and other spheres is increasing.
During the meeting, the importance of further strengthening cooperation within the framework of international inter-parliamentary organizations was emphasized.
