The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan

    These days, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva is on a working visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

    On May 15, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

    President Ilham Aliyev thanked the delegation headed by Tanzila Narbayeva for participating in an extraordinary meeting of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great son of the Azerbaijani people, outstanding statesman and public figure Heydar Aliyev, and for showing high respect to the memory of the national leader of this country.

    Speaking about the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev noted with satisfaction that they have been consistently raised to the level of strategic partnership. He stressed that mutual trusting and fraternal relations have been established between the heads of state, and an effective mechanism for exchanging visits at the highest level has been created. "Only last year I visited Uzbekistan three times. This once again confirms that there is no closer friend for us than your country," Ilham Aliyev said.

    In turn, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis thanked for the sincere reception and emphasized that in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the heads of state, relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have reached a qualitatively new level, positive dynamics of bilateral ties are observed in almost all directions and levels, most importantly, the two fraternal countries support each other on international and regional platforms organizations.

    Tanzila Narbayeva also stressed that the inter-parliamentary dialogue has become an important component of bilateral cooperation, the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are making every effort and opportunity of inter-parliamentary ties to further strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship between our peoples, deepen mutually beneficial partnership in all priority areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

    During the conversation, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan through the inter-parliamentary dialogue of the two countries were also discussed, views were exchanged on various areas of cooperation, including the implementation of specific projects in mechanical engineering, agriculture, textile industry, energy, investment and other spheres.

    In particular, it was noted that today Azerbaijan pays attention to the issue of using Uzbekistan's achievements, studying its experience and implementing it in various sectors of the economy, for example, in the textile industry and sericulture, the development of IT parks and cluster system.

    The commonality of history, language and culture confirms the spiritual closeness of the Uzbek and Azerbaijani peoples. In this sense, it was noted at the meeting that the two peoples understand each other without translators, spiritual and educational dialogue is an important condition for strengthening friendly relations.

    During the conversation, the importance of the long-term continuation of fraternal relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan was noted, and a proposal was put forward to consider the organization of a special forum that would help unite the youth of the two states.
