At the regular meeting of the Central Election Commission held on October 8 this year, issues of organizing early voting of voters, additional measures to ensure the electoral rights of persons with disabilities, accreditation of observers from foreign countries and others were considered.

The meeting adopted a resolution of the Central Election Commission on the organization of early voting on October 16-23, 2024 for voters who cannot stay at their place of residence on election day.

On the days of early voting at polling stations, voting will take place from 9:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 11:00 to 17:00 on weekends. In addition, it was determined that early voting at polling stations established at diplomatic and other missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign countries will be held from 9:00 to 18:00 local time in the country where these polling stations are located.

The Electoral Code and the Law "On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" contain provisions on creating the necessary conditions for citizens with disabilities to exercise their constitutional rights, including on an equal basis with other citizens and the free exercise of the right to vote.

In the elections to be held on October 27 this year, 11 persons with disabilities were registered as candidates for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and 605 for local Kengashes.

Also, the fact that 1,343 people with disabilities work in election commissions indicates that equal opportunities have been created for them in the upcoming elections.

In addition, in order to further ensure the constitutional rights of persons with disabilities in the upcoming elections, volunteers will be attached to more than 830,000 voters with disabilities to provide support.

In order to create the necessary conditions for persons with disabilities to exercise their right to vote, issues were considered at the meeting and an appropriate decision was made to approve a sample of a stencil based on the Braille alphabet for filling out ballots, installing specially equipped booths for secret voting at polling stations, optical magnifying glasses and additional lighting for persons with disabilities and limited opportunities, as well as the organization of voting for voters who cannot come to the polling station on their own, at their place of residence.

Also, at the meeting, 36 foreign and international observers were accredited by the decision of the Central Election Commission, in particular, 19 representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States, 2 representatives each from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, Russia and China, 3 from the United States and 1 representative each from Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, France, India and Japan.
