It was attended by senators, representatives of ministries and departments, heads of representative offices of UN structures in Uzbekistan, missions of Uzbekistan to the UN, as well as experts from international organizations, scientists and specialists from Central Asian countries, domestic and foreign universities and research institutes.
During the round table, topical issues of our time were discussed in the context of active interaction and fruitful cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy S. Safoev, opening the event, stressed the high level of interaction between Uzbekistan and the UN at all stages of development during the 30-year cooperation. Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening and comprehensive development of relations with the UN as a key international organization in ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development on the planet was noted.
The efforts made by Uzbekistan to solve urgent problems of a regional and global nature are supported by the UN. This is due to the fact that the constructive, balanced and consistent position of Uzbekistan, as well as the initiatives put forward by the President of the country on topical issues of the international agenda, fully coincide with the global goals of the UN aimed at strengthening peace and stability, prosperity and sustainable development.
The foreign participants of the round table in their speeches highly appreciated the reform processes in the republic carried out under the leadership of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, as well as the open and consistent foreign policy of the leader of Uzbekistan, contributing to the growth of the country's international prestige.
During the round table, reports and speeches were heard on countering modern threats and security challenges, including measures to overcome crisis phenomena in the post-pandemic period, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, solving environmental problems, transforming priorities of socio-economic development, protecting and promoting human rights, and tourism development.
During the event, an exchange of views and an active discussion took place on various aspects of Uzbekistan's fruitful and effective cooperation with the UN, enhancing and strengthening the role of the Organization in the international arena, especially taking into account the constantly changing dynamics of global processes, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
