During the meeting, issues of further intensification of Uzbek-Korean strategic partnership relations in the economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres, including the development of interparliamentary cooperation, were discussed. In particular, it was emphasized that the Uzbek language has been studied in prestigious higher educational institutions of the Republic of Korea.
It was also emphasized that the format of the meetings of the heads of parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea has proven to be an effective platform for a trusting dialogue.
The sides exchanged views on the issues of reaching practical and effective agreements within the framework of the next meeting to be held in Tashkent. It was noted that the meetings in Seoul in September 2023 and in Ashgabat in October 2024 clearly demonstrated the relevance of this format.
During the conversation, the established active interparliamentary dialogue at all levels was emphasized and the visit to Uzbekistan this year of delegations at the level of heads of several committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea was noted with satisfaction. It was also stressed that the activities of parliamentary friendship groups play an important role in coordinating mutual dialogue and increasing practical effectiveness.
The implementation of the project on the introduction of the electronic parliament system in Uzbekistan in cooperation with KOICA was highly appreciated. It was noted that this project serves to improve the legislative process and increase the effectiveness of the Parliament.
The parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen interparliamentary cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Woo Won-sik, left an entry in the Book of Honored Guests.
