Uzbekistan was recognized as the "Best destination for cultural tourism" at The Global Tourism Forum in Brussels

    At the international forum The Global Tourism Forum, held in the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium, Uzbekistan received a high award - it was recognized as the "Best Cultural Tourism Destination".

    The event on "Rethinking tourism in a changing world" was attended by a delegation led by Umid Shadiyev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee.

    The forum brought together the heads of relevant ministries and departments of dozens of countries, representatives of international organizations, as well as influential experts and leaders of the tourism industry.

    The main objective of the forum is to strengthen the sustainability of the sector, attract investment, develop leadership among women and youth, introduce innovative technologies, and expand international cooperation in the field of global tourism.

    At the opening ceremony, participants were presented with a presentation of Uzbekistan's tourism potential, ongoing reforms and joint projects with the United Nations on tourism aimed at implementing the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The national stand of Uzbekistan aroused great interest among the guests of the forum.

    In recognition of systemic reforms and active promotion of the country's cultural heritage, Uzbekistan was declared the winner in the nomination "The best destination for Cultural Tourism."

    Within the framework of the forum, members of the Uzbek delegation held a number of meetings and negotiations: with the newly elected Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organization, Sheikha Al-Novais; with the Commissioner of the European Commission for Sustainable Tourism and Transport, Apostolos Tsitsikostas; with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev; with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, Sharif Fathi; with the Director of TripAdvisor, Justin Reed.

    These meetings were an important step towards strengthening the international image of Uzbekistan and developing new areas of cooperation in the tourism sector, including promoting the national cultural heritage at the global level.
