Uzbekistan took the 36th place in the ranking of the "World Charity Index" (World Giving Index) for 2023. The list is compiled by Charities Aid Foundation based on public surveys.

This year, Charities Aid Foundation compared conversations with 147 thousand residents of 142 countries. The respondents were asked whether they donated funds to charity, whether they helped strangers and whether they worked as volunteers - all this over the past month.

Among the respondents in Uzbekistan, 59% told about helping strangers, 58% - about donating money, 18% - about volunteering. This secured our country the 36th place in the ranking among 142 positions.

Indonesia became the leader of the "World Charity Index", where more than 60% of respondents answered yes to all three questions. Ukraine is in second place; Kenya is in third.

    Kyrgyzstan took 34th place, Russia - 102nd, Kazakhstan - 107th, Afghanistan - 137th.

According to the survey, charity is least developed in Yemen, Croatia and Poland.
