The Forum brought together representatives of States, international organizations and the expert community to discuss key issues of conservation of migratory species and strengthen global cooperation in this area.
The Republic of Uzbekistan, acting at the opening as the current chair of the Convention, officially transferred the presidency to the Federative Republic of Brazil. During the plenary session, the Uzbek delegation presented a report on the results of its activities during the period of its presidency in 2024-2026. The document reflects the country's contribution to the conservation of migratory species, the development of international partnerships, as well as the promotion of initiatives aimed at countering the illegal removal of wild animals.
Recall that in February 2024, the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention (CMS COP14) was held in Samarkand, following which Uzbekistan assumed the chairmanship. The holding of this forum was an important step in strengthening the country's international authority in the environmental field.
A special recognition of the international community was the awarding of the status of Migratory Species Champion Plus to the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The ceremony was held as part of the Migratory Species Champion Program. This status was awarded to Uzbekistan for its significant support and commitment to strengthening legal mechanisms and global actions to combat the removal of migratory species in the period 2026-2028.
This result reflects the country's consistent environmental policy and its contribution to combining international efforts to conserve biodiversity and protect migratory species.
