On March 12, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Dushanbe. Negotiations were held in a narrow format, and almost the entire range of the bilateral agenda was discussed.

During the extended meeting, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda noted that the two states share rich historical traditions and creative interaction, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports with reference to NIAT Khovar.

It was noted that in 2023, the mutual trade turnover between our countries amounted to more than 500 million dollars. Uzbekistan ranks fifth in Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover.

The Tajik side noted that it is ready to cooperate with Uzbek industrial enterprises in the design and creation of large industrial parks in Tajikistan.

It was stressed that the relevant departments should work out ways to develop cooperation. In particular, in the textile and clothing industry, the joint production of agricultural machinery and equipment, food processing, mining and metallurgical industries, the production of equipment for renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, the production of medicines, building materials, information technology and electronics - in all these areas there are huge untapped potentials. Through joint efforts, specific agreements should be reached to realize these opportunities.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted that Tajikistan is a close neighbor, loyal friend, reliable strategic partner and ally of Uzbekistan.

"It is gratifying to note that in recent years the volume of mutual trade has increased. Special attention should be paid to the activation of the Uzbek-Tajik investment fund. To do this, we propose to organize a regular dialogue between our ministries to coordinate work in this direction," Abdulla Aripov added.

In conclusion, the protocol of the intergovernmental commission was signed.
