The OSCE held a briefing on the results of the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan

    At a regular meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the OSCE, Bakhtiyor Ibrahimov, presented the results of the parliamentary elections held in our country.

    The event was attended by representatives of 57 participating countries, dialogue partner countries and heads of executive structures of the organization, according to the Dune news agency.

    The participants of the meeting were provided with information on the results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional, district and city Kengashes of People's Deputies held on October 27.

    Attention was drawn to the fact that for the first time in the history of our country, parliamentary elections were held on the basis of a mixed electoral system, the activities of election commissions were fully digitalized, and voting processes were conducted with technological innovations and inclusivity. It was noted that the elections were organized in accordance with the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the Electoral Code and international standards.

    Gratitude was also expressed to the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Secretariat for sending large-scale election observation missions. It was reported that Uzbekistan is interested in continuing constructive cooperation with the OSCE after the final report of the mission, and the recommendations contained therein will be considered accordingly.

    The heads of diplomatic missions of a number of foreign countries congratulated the Uzbek side on the successful holding of parliamentary elections and recognized that the elections were organized in accordance with open, fair and democratic principles.
