    On January 23 of this year, at the International Institute of Central Asia, Director Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the Acting Coordinator of OSCE projects in Uzbekistan, Hans Ulrich Im.

    During the meeting, it was stressed that today the Central Asian region is becoming a vast space of partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.

    The Director of the MICA separately noted that the mechanism of Consultative meetings of the Heads of Central Asian States laid a fundamentally new paradigm of interstate relations in the region, created a basis for strengthening unity, allowing to regain the former power of Central Asia.

    According to the Director, stable Central Asia is becoming one of the important centers of economic growth. The last 6-7 years have been a breakthrough period of joint implementation of major investment projects of cooperation in the field of industry, transport, energy and infrastructure. Joint investment companies have been established, interregional ties are actively developing.

    Hans-Ulrich Im noted that the OSCE leadership is observing with satisfaction the extensive positive changes in Uzbekistan and highly appreciated the policy of the Head of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev and the reforms carried out under his leadership and the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan

    According to the expert, Uzbekistan has entered a new period of its development, in particular, it has focused on economic reforms, the policy of open diplomacy and good-neighborly relations.

    Mr. Im added that the President's initiative to create a format for consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian states once again demonstrated the fact that Uzbekistan attaches special importance to regional cooperation and the formation of trusting relations with the countries of the region.

    He emphasized the growing indicators of trade turnover between the countries of Central Asia, which undoubtedly indicates the formation of a new atmosphere of trust, the basis of which was laid by the initiatives of the head of Uzbekistan.

    Also, during the meeting, V. Norov discussed with Hans-Ulrich possible formats of cooperation with MICA, including holding joint events (forums, conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.) on a wide range of issues of mutual interest; organization of internships of MICA employees in OSCE structural units and other European profile centers, etc.

    As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain a regular dialogue in order to further promote the strengthening of scientific and academic cooperation between MICA and the OSCE.
