During the meeting, the foreign side was informed about the essence and significance of the Constitutional Reform, as well as the political and socio-economic transformations taking place in Uzbekistan. In particular, it was noted that the new version of the draft Constitution was prepared taking into account the opinions and recommendations of leading international organizations, including the OSCE ODIHR and the Venice Commission.
It was emphasized that during the national discussion of the draft Constitutional Law, over 220 thousand proposals were received, every fourth of which was reflected in the draft.
During the dialogue, an exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of cooperation, expansion of contacts with the OSCE ODIHR in the field of improving the legislative process and further modernization of the domestic electoral system.
In turn, the foreign side expressed support for the democratic transformations being carried out in the country, noted its readiness to contribute in every possible way to the further development of cooperation in order to promote the reforms carried out by the President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain a systematic dialogue and partnership.
