Within the framework of COP 28, a meeting on the development of cooperation with ADB representatives was held in Dubai

    On December 2 of this year in Dubai, a delegation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance held a meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the further development of the "green" economy in Uzbekistan within the framework of the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).

    For information: The Conference of the Parties - COP is a Conference of the Parties that has been convened every three decades since the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to define the ambitions, responsibilities and obligations of member countries in relation to climate change.

    The meeting was attended by Xiaohong Yang, Deputy Director General of the Asian Development Bank for Central and East Asia, Kathleen Ann Kobales, specialist in the Department of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, and Begzod Jalilov, Chief Economist.

    The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank the problems arising from climate change in Uzbekistan, the transition to a green economy and green growth projects, as well as plans for the future.

    In particular, special emphasis was placed on the widespread introduction of innovative technologies into the agro-industrial complex of the republic, infrastructure development mechanisms, and projects aimed at further improving transport and communications.

    In this regard, an agreement was reached on further expanding cooperation in order to adapt to climate change in the country, in the field of agriculture, rational use of water resources, and improving the energy efficiency of existing and under construction buildings in the country.

    During the meeting, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Asian Development Bank signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of climate change mitigation, adaptation and transition to a green economy.

    Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand cooperation on the development of the "green" economy in Uzbekistan.
