A meeting of Uzbek and Swedish parliamentary delegations took place in Istanbul

On November 18, in Istanbul, as part of the annual meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism Odiljon Mamatkarimov met with Chairman of the group in the Riksdag of Sweden on interparliamentary cooperation "Northern Europe - Uzbekistan" Björn Söder.

During the meeting, issues related to the development of inter-parliamentary relations, cooperation in the legislative, trade, economic, tourism, as well as in the field of information technology, education and culture were discussed.

It was emphasized that interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries has been intensifying in recent years: representatives of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis regularly visit Sweden, and in 2025, Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Julia Kronlid visited Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development of cooperation between the committees of the parliaments of the two countries in the areas of ensuring Sustainable Development Goals, gender and social policy, cooperation within international organizations, expanding the contractual framework, as well as in the field of higher education and interregional cooperation.
