A meeting of the Council of Heads of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the CIS member states was held in Tashkent

    On April 29, an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS countries on the topic "The role of regional cooperation in the formation of the Common Economic Space of the CIS" was held in Tashkent as part of the first Forum of Regions of the CIS member states.

    By the end of 2024, the foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the CIS countries reached 23.1 billion US dollars. Of these, exports amounted to $9 billion and imports to $14 billion. About 5.5 thousand companies with the participation of the capital of the Commonwealth countries are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.

    The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Dilshod Rasulov and Nodira Shotursunova, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Ilkhom Nematov, representative of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan Ildus Khalitov, as well as heads of chambers of commerce and industry of the CIS countries.

    During the talks, issues of developing interregional cooperation, strengthening economic ties and creating effective cooperation mechanisms were discussed.

    Special attention was also paid to improving the activities of the Chambers of Commerce and industry and expanding cooperation between the business circles of the CIS countries. Joint initiatives and specific proposals were put forward.

    Following the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Tashkent City Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce of Kyrgyzstan on the development of women's entrepreneurship.

    In conclusion, the participants noted that this dialogue was an important step towards strengthening economic cooperation within the CIS and the formation of a single market.
