The second batch of hepatitis C drug was delivered to Uzbekistan from Egypt

    The second shipment of the hepatitis C drug Sofosbuvir-400mg in the amount of 7,440 doses in 28 boxes with a total cost of 114,829 dollars arrived in Tashkent from Sharm el-Sheikh.

    In accordance with the National Program for the Elimination of Hepatitis C in Uzbekistan by 2030, funds will be distributed among patients seeking treatment at the Scientific Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the Dunyo News agency reports.

    According to the Uzbek Embassy in Cairo, the Egyptian government has already shipped 12.4 tons of Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir, drugs used to treat hepatitis C, in 27 shipments to Uzbekistan during 2023-2024. The total cost of these drugs was US$ 1.4 million.

    According to experts, hepatitis C drugs provided by the Egyptian government help save money for the state budget. The saved funds will increase the volume of screening of the population for hepatitis and hidden viruses and will completely eliminate this disease by 2030.
