A promising project on the management of hazardous waste will be implemented in Uzbekistan

    The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan has signed a cooperation agreement with the Saudi company Vision International Investment (VIIC) and the French company Suez International.

    The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Ecology Jusipbek Kazbekov, Kapil Lalvani, Director of Development at Vision International Investment, and Paul Bourdillon, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at Suez International.

    The document provides for the joint development and implementation of a promising project in the field of hazardous industrial waste management. The total cost of the project is 78 million US dollars; it will be implemented in three stages.

    At the first stage, it is planned to create waste stabilization complexes and place them at specialized landfills, as well as regional transmission stations.

    The second stage includes the development of a preliminary engineering design and pilot testing of equipment for the production of fuel from waste (RDF - fuel obtained from waste), incineration and heat treatment plants.

    The third stage involves the construction and commissioning of a full-scale enterprise for the production of RDF and thermal waste treatment.

    For reference: Suez International is a French company with more than 160 years of history specializing in water resources and waste management. It offers solutions for water supply, wastewater treatment, and waste recycling, including hazardous waste, and operates in Europe, Asia-Pacific, America, Africa, and the Middle East.

    Vision International Investment Company (VIIC) was founded in 2002 in Saudi Arabia and is a large investment holding company managing assets worth about 96 billion US dollars. Its main areas of activity cover energy, infrastructure, utilities, water resources management, electricity generation, consulting, and public-private partnership projects.

    The signed agreements are aimed at deepening strategic cooperation and will contribute to improving the environmental situation.
