More than 50 tons of iodized salt were not allowed to be sold in Uzbekistan

    More than 50 tons of iodized salt are not allowed for sale due to its non-compliance with established standards.

    This was announced at a briefing in the IMC by the head of the information service for sanitary and epidemiological welfare and public health, Maftun Saidova.

    It is reported that today in our Republic there are 117 enterprises for the production and packaging of iodized table salt.

    In 2022, studies were conducted at 47 enterprises. In May alone, studies were conducted at seven enterprises for the production and packaging of iodized table salt and samples were taken for laboratory studies.

    It was revealed that of the 11 salt samples taken, 27.2% did not meet the established standards, as a result, a ban was imposed on the sale of a total of 50.6 tons of table salt.

    Protocols were drawn up and documents submitted to local courts for consideration in accordance with the procedure established by law on the shortcomings identified during the studies in respect of seven responsible persons.
