Uzbekistan has established responsibility for the distribution, advertising, and demonstration of potent substances on the Internet

    The law signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Law No. 971 dated 05.10.2024) amended and supplemented some codes.

    Accordingly, the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes and the Code of Administrative Responsibility strengthen measures of responsibility for the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances using telecommunications networks and the worldwide Internet information network, the commission of these crimes involving minors.

    Also, administrative and criminal liability is established for the illegal acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances, potent and poisonous substances without the purpose of sale.

    According to the amendment to the Criminal Code, the illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment without the purpose of selling potent substances of a special category that are not narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances committed after the application of an administrative penalty for the same actions, provide for the application of one of the following types of punishment:

    · a fine of up to 50 BRV;

    · compulsory community service for up to 360 hours;

    · correctional work for up to 3 years;

    · restriction of freedom from 1 to 3 years;

    · imprisonment for up to 3 years.

    The law comes into force from the date of its official publication, according to the Ministry of Justice.
