Landscaping activities are continuing in our country within the framework of the national project "Yashil Makon" ("Green Space"). In particular, in the spring of 2025, 136 million saplings of trees and shrubs were planted throughout the republic.

It should be noted that in 2021, at the initiative of the head of state, the Yashil Makon national project was launched, within the framework of which the goal was to plant at least 200 million saplings of trees and shrubs annually, as well as to bring the country's landscaping level to 30%.

According to the Department for the Development of Forestry, Protected Natural Areas and Combating Desertification of the Ministry of Ecology, 86 million seedlings were planted under the project in autumn 2021, 203 million in 2022, 220 million in 2023, and 227 million in 2024. In addition, the area of green spaces on the drained bottom of the Aral Sea and in the Aral Sea region has been increased to 2 million hectares. Thus, over the past 4 years, a total of 872 million saplings of trees and shrubs have been planted throughout the republic.

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the state program for the implementation of the strategy "Uzbekistan - 2030" in the "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy", in 2025, in order to improve the ecological appearance of mahallas, increase the level of landscaping of streets and create a comfortable ecological environment within the framework of the projects "Yashil Makon" and "My Garden" it is planned plant 200 million trees and shrubs.

In addition, it is planned to create a green zone with an area of 100,000 hectares on the drained bottom of the Aral Sea and expand forests in the Aral Sea region to 2.1 million hectares.

According to experts, 1 hectare of haloxylon in the desert zone is capable of absorbing 1,158 kg of carbon dioxide annually and releasing about the same amount of oxygen. One haloxylon can hold up to 3 tons of sand and dust. And in mountainous areas, one juniper tree annually produces about 30 kg of phytoncides, substances that are extremely beneficial to human health.
