At the event organized within the framework of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the SCO, the delegations of eight member states of the organization discussed issues aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the transport sector, the development and diversification of transport corridors, and the effective use of existing opportunities in this area.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov noted that the effective use of the huge transport and transit potential of the SCO is one of the key priorities of our country in this organization.
It was noted that during its presidency, the Uzbek side set a task to give further impetus to the development of multilateral cooperation on this strategically important track.
At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a draft Strategy for cooperation between the SCO member states on the development of interconnectedness and the creation of efficient transport corridors has been developed, the Dunyo news agency reports.
The adoption of this concept document will certainly strengthen the institutional foundations of cooperation between the SCO member States in the field of transport connectivity.
