The UK will ban the sale of energy drinks to children under 16 years of age

Consultations have begun in the UK on the introduction of a ban on the sale of energy drinks with a caffeine content of more than 150 mg per liter to children under the age of 16.

This was reported by the press service of the British government, according to Report.

According to research, about 100,000 children consume at least one energy drink every day, which negatively affects their sleep, academic performance and mental health. Education Minister Bridget Phillipson said the measure would be "another step towards creating the healthiest generation of children in history."

The ban, supported by parents and teachers, could prevent obesity in 40,000 children and save tens of millions of pounds on future disease treatment.
