Today, at the thirty-seventh plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On amendments to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility in connection with the establishment of liability for obstructing the lawful medical activity of a medical worker" was considered.

In particular, it was noted that cases of encroachment on medical workers by patients and their close relatives have recently become more frequent, during which unfounded accusations were made against medical workers for the deterioration of patients' health or their death, and there were also cases of attacks on doctors and nursing staff for no reason.

The Code of Administrative Responsibility establishes separate liability for obstructing the lawful medical activity of a medical worker or for this purpose illegal influence in any form on a medical worker.

At the same time, a penalty is imposed for the commission by citizens of such an illegal act, which entails the imposition of a fine on them from five to seven, and on officials - from seven to ten basic calculated values or administrative arrest for up to fifteen days.

Also, article 1977 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility establishes the consideration of cases of obstruction of the lawful medical activity of a medical worker or for this purpose illegal influence in any form on a medical worker.

In addition, it was noted that in accordance with article 305 of this Code, the time limit for consideration of cases of this category is three days.

As the senators noted, the adoption of this Law serves to protect the rights of medical workers and prevent various interventions in their professional activities, increase the authority and status of the medical profession, provide citizens with timely and high-quality medical care.

The law was approved by senators.
