Two years ago, the Head of State visited this area and noted the need to construct a modern complex on the territory adjacent to the existing stadium. Soon after, on November 3, 2023, the President signed a resolution “On measures to expand the network of football educational institutions and to develop football infrastructure in line with international standards”.
The center, commissioned on the eve of Independence Day celebrations, has become an essential link in the development of national football. It can simultaneously host training camps for six national teams. For this purpose, stadiums, educational buildings, sports halls, and a hotel have been constructed. Additional facilities include a beach football ground, an indoor futsal arena, a swimming pool, and a rehabilitation unit.
The complex includes four specialized structures for training professional football players and specialists: the Center for Football Specialist Training and Research, the Center for Training National Football Teams, the Republican Football Academy, and the Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The President reviewed the conditions created in these organizations. The Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is equipped with modern foreign technology and has introduced advanced methods, enabling football players to recover quickly after intense training and competition.
At the Football Academy, young talents are selected and nurtured. To organize the process at an international level, specialists from Argentina, Hungary, and Croatia have been invited to the center. They are involved in training qualified coaches, referees, analysts, scouts, and football managers. The complex also houses a VAR center.
The Head of State met with sports veterans and young football players, emphasizing that football is the most popular sport in Uzbekistan and that its development will continue consistently.
In recent years, the country’s football system has undergone qualitative changes, ranging from children’s football and clubs to academies, professional clubs, and national championships. The results were not long in coming. The most significant achievement was a historic event – for the first time, the national team of Uzbekistan qualified for the final stage of the World Cup.
Another remarkable victory was achieved in April at the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, where the U17 national team took first place and secured a spot in the World Cup.
The President met with these football heroes and expressed his appreciation to them:
“We strive to secure a worthy place in the world in all spheres. Our athletes are capable of achieving this faster than others. With your determined victory, you once again proved that if our people work hard and strive forward, they are capable of achieving anything. Through you, the whole world has seen a new generation of Uzbekistan – determined, proud, and never giving up. From now on, we will support football even more than before. You are the trust of our people and the joy of the President”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The athletes thanked the Head of State for the conditions created and promised to live up to the trust of the people.
