The new program builds on the reforms that have already been implemented and covers several key areas:

·        Fiscal transparency and modernization of public administration

·        Improving the work of state-owned enterprises

·        Creating a competitive and open economic environment

·        Support for Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization

According to the head of the ADB representative Office in Uzbekistan, Kanokpan Lao-Araya, the country demonstrates a serious commitment to institutional transformation, inclusive growth and integration into the global economy. The Bank remains a strategic partner of the government on this path.

The program provides for:

·        uniform rules for public investments and PPP projects;

·        legislative changes to enhance competition and investment control;

·        SOE management reform: renewal of boards of directors, implementation of international reporting standards, establishment of gender quotas;

·        expansion of the tax base and development of international tax cooperation;

·        anti-corruption measures, including conflict of interest law and audit modernization;

·        adaptation of national legislation to the norms of international trade and investment for WTO accession.

Special attention is paid to social support for the population. The program includes measures to protect vulnerable groups and reduce the possible consequences of economic transformations.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Uzbekistan and the ADB. Since 1995, the bank has provided loans, grants and technical assistance to the country in the amount of $14.6 billion.

The Asian Development Bank remains one of Uzbekistan's main international partners, supporting sustainable and inclusive growth, economic modernization and the development of international cooperation.
