The new city is being built on a previously unused, non-agricultural land plot covering 4,000 hectares in Andijan district. Construction is planned in eight phases. To date, 63 multi-storey apartment buildings with a total of 1,770 residential units have been completed and put into operation. A school for 1,680 students, a kindergarten with a capacity of 420 children, and a polyclinic capable of serving 250 patients per shift have been built, along with a light industry enterprise and a mortgage center.
The President toured the territory of the new city and inspected the completed facilities.
Many of the apartments have already been occupied. The joy of children playing in the courtyards fills the atmosphere with warmth and comfort. Construction is progressing at an accelerated pace – this year, another 40 multi-storey residential buildings with over 1,000 apartments are planned for completion.
The facilities have the necessary infrastructure, including roads, electricity, natural gas, water supply, and heating. To ensure the supply of drinking water, a reservoir and a distribution station with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters have been commissioned.
A 19-hectare area has been transformed into the “Yangi O‘zbekiston” Park, with more than 10,000 ornamental trees, shrubs, and flowers planted. The park features an amphitheater, recreation zones, walking paths, cafés, children’s playgrounds, and a modern lighting system. It is set to become one of the highlights of New Andijan.
The “Vatanparvar” Park is located in the same area and is of particular symbolic significance. The Oath to the Motherland Monument, museum, and venues for concerts and cultural events are expected to leave a lasting impression on visitors.
The project is notable for its scale. On a territory covering 1,439 hectares, 2,000 apartment buildings are planned. In addition, commercial and service facilities will be built, and green areas covering 1,820 hectares will be developed. Upon completion, the city can accommodate more than 410,000 residents.
New landscaping and urban development projects were also presented at the site. Plans include reconstructing Alisher Navoi Park and installing a monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. The President emphasized the importance of creating an authentic representation of Babur and transforming the surrounding area into a theme park dedicated to the legacy of the Baburids.
The Head of state also visited exhibitions showcasing folk crafts, decorative-applied arts, and visual art. He proposed holding an annual artists’ festival in Andijan.
