NASA finally pries open stuck Bennu asteroid sampler

It took about 3.5 months to safely access the container.

Johnson Space Center engineers and scientists have finally opened the precious "space container". A total of 35 special locks were installed on the container, two of which could not be opened.

Experts had to develop several special tools to open the container in order to minimize the risk of sample damage or contamination.

Finally, the container was opened at 3.5 months. Specialists are now conducting scientific research to further analyze the samples and determine their total mass. A study of the soil of asteroid Bennu last year showed that the soil contains a lot of water. This confirms the theory that water appeared on Earth due to asteroids.
